In this parable about the spreading of God’s word in places that won’t produce any fruit, Jesus does not admonish that spreading. Often the work we do might feel unproductive, but we quickly learn that people’s responses should not always dictate our efforts. We are not a business that is motivated by what drives people to give money; we are witness to God’s love that believes the Holy Spirit can bear fruit in even the toughest of hearts.
