In this parable, Jesus encourages us to abide in God. This is not a simple state of being, which is also encouraged, but this is staying connected to God against all odds. When it doesn’t make sense, stay connected. When it isn’t popular, stay connected. When it is not producing the fruit you want, stay connected. In this way, you will bear the fruit God wants, and that is the ultimate hope for our lives to glorify our God.
