On Saturday, October 12th from 5-7 pm, SUMC will serve a public dinner to kick off autumn, and we hope you will come. Bring friends for a traditional, homemade roast pork, sausage, and sauerkraut dinner with potatoes, Haluski, homemade desserts, and beverages.

October means Pumpkins! We are in need of volunteers to man the pumpkin patch every day through October 31. There is no need to lift or carry pumpkins!
Our monthly Salad Luncheon is this Thursday, October 3 from 11 am to 1 pm. Proceeds from our community luncheons support the General Fund. Please consider donating your homemade salads for the luncheons.

WASHINGTON — Reports released Thursday show the Trump administration intends to reduce the number of refugees admitted into the United States to 18,000 in the next fiscal year.
UMCOR has issued grants for early response needs to Annual Conferences (for Bahama and for USA areas) that experienced severe weather losses. As early assessments are done and long term plans are formulated, further grants will be issued and volunteer teams will be formed.

This year is going to be different… this year will be insane! The Boo Crew is gearing up for our annual haunted house in the basement of the church, and we’ve got some big surprises in store!
The SUMC Youth Group will be meeting on the second Sunday of each month (generally) from 1:00-3:00. All teens in 6th-12th grades and encouraged to come participate in the discussion, games, and general fun.
As we move toward our packing party in late September, our SUMC 2019 Operation Christmas Child campaign has some urgent needs and some less urgent needs. The Fellowship of the Cross youth are asking our church family to consider making a contribution, or another contribution, to help fill the boxes. The urgent needs include toothbrushes, bars of soap, pencil sharpeners, and stuffed animals or baby dolls that fit easily into a shoebox.
Sunday School classes officially begin this Sunday morning at 10 am, with classes for every age: preschool through high school, as well as 2 adult classes. Class content ranges from stimulating conversations about the Bible, to contemporary Christian issues, books, and videos. Bible stories, crafts, skits, songs, and games are often utilized to convey the message in our elementary classes. Please join a class!
