The Pan Methodist Council of Western Pennsylvania is joining with several faith-based organizations and social groups to organize Western Pennsylvania’s first annual “March to Unite” on September 7th.

The United Methodist Women are having a Rummage Sale for Missions on Friday, September 6 from 5 to 8 pm, and on Saturday, September 7 from 8 am to 1 pm.
The SUMC ANGELS have decorated furniture and accessories to make unique and useful creations, which will be for sale on SUMC’s front lawn on Saturday, September 7 from 10 am - 1 pm during Sewickley’s Harvest Festival.
Between services this Sunday, September 8, there will be a covered dish breakfast. Please bring a breakfast casserole, side dish, fruit, or beverage for the buffet. Breakfast meat will be provided. There will be something special to mark this event that you don't want to miss
Church Union, a WPAUMC agency works with public schools in the City of Pittsburgh and in Beaver County. Mentors go to the schools to work one-on-one with younger students struggling with their reading skills. Your donation of new or gently used children’s books will enable those students to have a book of their own.
The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank (GPFB) gleans from local farms. Gleaning means to gather produce left in the fields after the major harvest is done. Volunteers are needed, sometimes with short notice, to glean – opportunities continue into the fall harvest season. If you are interested, you can sign up for Glean Alerts.
United Methodist disaster response volunteers have been conducting assessments in areas hit by recent flooding and other disasters throughout the USA. It is through your generous support that UMCOR can quickly respond to needs in the USA and around the world.
WPAUMC’s Global Mission Network will host this opportunity to learn more about our Conference’s various global partnerships, explore the importance and impact of our global connections, and consider how God might be calling churches and individuals to get more involved.
The Outreach Committee will provide a light lunch while Keystone United Methodist Federal Credit Union (Keystone UMFCU) will present information on identity theft prevention. Methods used to try to gain access to personal information are ever changing; Keystone UMFCU will share the latest to help you avoid identity theft. November 10th from 8 am to 1 pm in the church’s Simpson Room. Details on how to register for the blood drive will be available on the website and through out the church. If you have questions, contact Martha Boward. The drive is open to the public, so share the date with others. There is a critical shortage of blood in the Pittsburgh area, so if you are able to give, please consider doing so.
Our community luncheon returns on Thursday, September 5, 11 am to 1 pm. Proceeds from our luncheons support the General Fund.

I found Jose as I stepped away from an opening prayer asking God to lift the first-night anxieties from our first Community Vacation Bible School in early August. I was nervous. I wasn’t sure we were prepared. So many new faces. Could we provide what they were expecting? Could we provide what He was expecting?
Sunday, September 8th is designated by Western PA Annual Conference for this special offering which supports the educational ministries of the Conference, which include Training and Resources and Laity Scholarships. Please use the “blue” envelopes located in the pews and on the information table or mark your check/envelope “Christian Ed” and include with your regular offering. Come with a friend or bring a whole table of friends to a tea party! Sweets, scones, and sandwiches will be served along with several hot teas and punch. Entertainment includes music, magic, balloon art, and a surprise. Prizes will be awarded for hats, costumes, and groups.
Thanks to everyone who helped us to have a very successful Vacation Bible School! We had 49 kids registered this year! Special thanks to St Paul’s Lutheran Church and St Matthews AME Zion Church for helping with our first joint Sewickley Community VBS! All volunteers are invited to a taco bar/ice cream social on Thursday, Aug 22nd at 6:30pm at SUMC in the Simpson Room. We will celebrate our success for the year and start planning for next year.
Come support the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC soccer team as they host Loudoun United FC for a Faith and Family night on Aug 23rd. Tickets are $18, and a portion of the funds will be returned to the SUMC Youth Group!
The SUMC Youth Group is going to kick off our year with a lock in on Aug 24-25. All youth going into 6th to 12th grade are invited to come at 7:00pm on the 24th for a night of games, planning and of course, Oreos.
