UMCOR has issued grants for early response needs to Annual Conferences (for Bahama and for USA areas) that experienced severe weather losses. As early assessments are done and long term plans are formulated, further grants will be issued and volunteer teams will be formed.
On this worldwide day of unity, the offering benefits World Communion Scholarships, the Ethnic Scholarship Program, and the Ethnic In-Service Training Program.
As a community outreach, Sewickley United Methodist Church will again offer story times to preschools visiting our pumpkin patch during October. The groups visit during the day. If you are willing to be a reader, please see Martha Boward or leave a message with the church office.

This year is going to be different… this year will be insane! The Boo Crew is gearing up for our annual haunted house in the basement of the church, and we’ve got some big surprises in store!
The SUMC Youth Group will be meeting on the second Sunday of each month (generally) from 1:00-3:00. All teens in 6th-12th grades and encouraged to come participate in the discussion, games, and general fun.
As we move toward our packing party in late September, our SUMC 2019 Operation Christmas Child campaign has some urgent needs and some less urgent needs. The Fellowship of the Cross youth are asking our church family to consider making a contribution, or another contribution, to help fill the boxes. The urgent needs include toothbrushes, bars of soap, pencil sharpeners, and stuffed animals or baby dolls that fit easily into a shoebox.
Sunday School classes officially begin this Sunday morning at 10 am, with classes for every age: preschool through high school, as well as 2 adult classes. Class content ranges from stimulating conversations about the Bible, to contemporary Christian issues, books, and videos. Bible stories, crafts, skits, songs, and games are often utilized to convey the message in our elementary classes. Please join a class!

The United Methodist Women are having a Rummage Sale for Missions on Friday, September 6 from 5 to 8 pm, and on Saturday, September 7 from 8 am to 1 pm.
The SUMC ANGELS have decorated furniture and accessories to make unique and useful creations, which will be for sale on SUMC’s front lawn on Saturday, September 7 from 10 am - 1 pm during Sewickley’s Harvest Festival.
Between services this Sunday, September 8, there will be a covered dish breakfast. Please bring a breakfast casserole, side dish, fruit, or beverage for the buffet. Breakfast meat will be provided. There will be something special to mark this event that you don't want to miss
Church Union, a WPAUMC agency works with public schools in the City of Pittsburgh and in Beaver County. Mentors go to the schools to work one-on-one with younger students struggling with their reading skills. Your donation of new or gently used children’s books will enable those students to have a book of their own.
