Traditionally, SUMC has selected a United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) relief kit to assemble and deliver to AC at Grove City College each June. UMCOR keeps an inventory of relief kits ready for its ongoing ministries and for emergency responses. SUMC will assemble 50 hygiene kits.
EUMA (Erie United Methodist Alliance) and All God’s Children Ministries/Ramps of Hope is holding its Annual Shoe Drive to raise funds for its missions. Sewickley UMC will collect new and gently used CLEAN shoes (pairs only) from now until June 2nd.
Thank you for helping to pay down the principal on our sanctuary renovation loan through our sale. Our April choices are Lentil, Wedding, and Stuffed Pepper soups, and Sandra’s hummus. Please see the posters in the sanctuary and Simpson Room for pictures and order forms. Orders are due this Sunday, April 21.
Fellowship of the Cross’s new underwear collection for girls in Africa (girls sizes 10-16 & women’s sizes 5-7), to accompany feminine hygiene kits they will also receive, and for young girls & boys, briefs of any size, who have never had underwear, ends on Easter Sunday. The collection basket is in the back of the sanctuary. Financial donations are also welcome for FOTC to purchase for you. Thanks for your help!
Easter Sunday, April 21 at 10 am – The Education Committee is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for all children up through fifth grade. All youth are welcome to help with the hunt.
The Sale for Missions will be held Friday, May 10 from 5 PM to 8 PM and Saturday, May 11 from 8 AM to 1 PM. We offer gently used household items, dishes, clothing, jewelry, small appliances, books, puzzles, toys, and one-of-a-kind treasures. All proceeds benefit international, national, and local mission projects supported by the United Methodist Women.

This Sunday’s Lenten Program begins at 6 pm when teams representing Leap of Faith, Youth, Clergy, and Monthly Luncheons will face off in our 6th Annual Church Family Feud. The covered dish dinner begins at 5 pm. Please bring a side for the table.
This Sunday is the deadline to place your order for flowers to adorn the chancel on Easter Sunday. Order forms are available in the back of the sanctuary, or you can download and print the PDF, so you can complete it and bring it in with you.

Sewickley UMC is collecting Easter Bags for the food pantry. You are asked to take a bag with the grocery list attached, purchase the non-perishable items, and return the filled bag with the list attached. In addition, SUMC is accepting cash donations in order to provide each family with a Giant Eagle gift card, with which the family may purchase perishable items such as ham and eggs.
While the relay is no longer planned, the Relay for Life group plans other activities in lieu of that fundraiser. The next event is a Havana-themed Cooking for a Cure on April 27th. You may follow Relay for Life of Sewickley Valley on Facebook for this and future events.
The Western PA Annual Conference has a strong connection with the Nyadire Connection in Zimbabwe. This year, Lenten Fines will be collected and applied to the Hearing Impaired (HI) Program at the Nyadire United Mission.
The Bishop is holding debriefing sessions in each district so lay and clergy members of the United Methodist Church in Western Pennsylvania hear accurate information about the decisions made at the Special Called Session of General Conference and the process we, as an annual conference, will undertake in order to implement the legislation that passed. The Pittsburgh District Debriefing is Sunday, March 24 at 2 pm at Salem UMC (350 Manor Rd, Wexford, PA 15090).
Donations of nonperishable food are welcome and help the Sewickley Community Center Food Bank provide help to those in need. Look for the cart in the front of the sanctuary on Sunday. Thank you for helping local families in need.
Please join Pittsburgh area United Methodists for an ecumenical prayer vigil for justice and healing in the wake of the death of Antwon Rose, Jr. and the trial of Michael Rosfeld, this Sunday, March 24 at 6:30 pm at Warren UMC, 2604 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh.
The SUMC Youth Group will be selling prayer rocks as a fundraiser to support our various activities. We will be selling the prayer rocks before and after each service on March 31st, April 7th, and April 14th for $10 each.
The annual SUMC Youth Lock In will take place on March 29th and 30th from 7:00 pm until 9:00 am. All youth from 6th to 12th grade are invited to attend for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship. Contact Susie Moffett or Johnathan Burnett for more information.
Church Family Feud returns for the 6th year as part of our Lenten Program on April 7. This year, the 4 teams are Youth, Clergy, Leap of Faith, and the Salad Luncheon crew. To prepare for Church Family Feud, 100 people need to be surveyed. Please fill out the survey here.
