The Special Session of the General Conference was called to receive and act on a report from the 32-member Commission on a Way Forward, which was authorized by General Conference 2016 and appointed by the Council of Bishops to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality, propose possible revisions, and explore options to strengthen the unity of the church.
Teams are forming for 2019 mission trips to Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Bahamas, Louisiana, and Zimbabwe. The age requirements vary, as do the costs. VIMships (Volunteer in Mission grants) may be available.

The UMW is having a rummage sale next weekend (Nov 9 & 10). Your donations of clean, fresh clothing, books, kitchen items, white elephant items, and household goods are much appreciated, but please no computers, electronic components, large pieces of furniture, or exercise equipment. All proceeds support UMW mission projects on the local, national, and international levels.
In light of the horrific tragedy that happened at the Tree of Life Synagogue, Sewickley UMC is accepting a designated special offering to forward to the Tree of Life to use at its discretion in its recovery.
We are having a fellowship meal after the 11 am All Saints’ Service on Sunday, Nov. 4, and everyone is welcome to attend. Please bring a dish to share. Meat and beverages will be provided.

Calling all youth in grades 6-12! The SUMC Youth Group is planning a trip to the West Hills Escape Room on Saturday, Nov 17th, for a fun night of team building and problem solving followed by some fellowship time at Eat n Park afterwards.
Kid’s Night Out this week (Thursday, October 25) will be only for the Youth Group (Middle and High Schoolers), followed by Wesley Chorale.

The choices for our October sale are Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice, Broccoli Cheddar, and Vegetable Beef soups, as well as Sandra’s hummus. Order forms are on the displays in the Simpson Room and Sanctuary and are due THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21, for November 1-4 pickup.
