Life sometimes can be overwhelming—for many during humanitarian crises, UMCOR is there. The United Methodist Committee on Relief stands ready to respond when the needs arise and works continuously to improve conditions for people the world over.

While regularly a source for those with food insecurities, GPCFB has been serving greater numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic. SUMC has sent financial contributions to GPCFB to aid in that service.
BHA has been relocated to the church next door that once housed the Church of Our Savior congregation. Tutoring is the focus at this time, as many children have had little instruction since March due to the many challenges of COVID era schooling. School supplies are needed. During February and March, SUMC will accept donations
Sewickley UMC is collecting Easter Bags for the food pantry. In addition, SUMC is accepting cash donations in order to provide each family with a Giant Eagle gift card, with which the family may purchase perishable items such as ham and eggs.

We received thanks for many showings of love from our congregation in the past month.

SUMC delivered 60 grab and go meals to the COVID and ICU units’ nurses at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital on January 15th, 19th, and 21st. Those 180 meals would not have been possible without funding from Miracle Sunday and community partners.
SUMC is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to raise funds through daffodil and tulip sales.

For our 4th Sunday collection on January 24th, let’s fill our grocery carts with pancake mixes, syrups, and hot cereals. The grocery carts are in the hallway outside of the Simpson Room for your convenience.
