At 275 feet tall, the General Sherman tree is the largest tree in the world. This tree is roughly 2,200 years old, over 36 feet in diameter, and is estimated to weigh nearly 2 million pounds. You would think with such an impressive height, its roots would go very deep. However, that is not the case.
We invite all to join together for our church-wide Lenten study. Our book study will be “John: The Gospel of Light and Life” by Adam Hamilton, starting the week of February 21st. The Gospel of John is the most spiritual of the four gospels. It is filled with rich images and profound truths, but John notes that his aim in writing the gospel is that readers will not only believe in Jesus Christ, but that they “may have life in his name.” It is a great book for a Lenten Study!
There was a time in Egypt when the Hebrew people were rising too high in numbers, so in order to deal with this problem, the Pharaoh decided to kill the oldest son in each Hebrew family. One brave mother refused to let her son go. Join Pastor Hannah this Sunday when we learn about Jochebed and what makes her a hero.
The “Our Heroes” series, presented by the Children’s Ministry team, continues this week as Ms. Lisa shares the story of Noah from the book of Genesis. Noah’s faith & obedience to God helped carry his family, and the animals, through a global storm. Seem applicable today? Lisa’s Noah lesson will be live streamed Sunday at 11:30 am.
All are invited to join us for the livestream lessons Sundays at 11:30, or for the recordings Sunday afternoons, right here.
The SUMC Education team would like to thank everyone who approved, enabled, encouraged, promoted, and visited our first drive-thru Live Nativity on the church campus in December.

During the first week in October, we will initiate SUMC Growth Groups comprised of small group Bible / Christian studies. The groups will be open for anyone to attend. Feel free to select one or more groups as they will be held throughout the week at various times.
Well… it ended with a funeral and a dance party. Actually, it ended with a funeral, a dance party, a prayer and a promise from a dragon to join us again next year.

Join us on an adventure to the Knights of North Castle as we explore the Quest for the King’s Armor. Our knights will discover how God’s strength empowers them to accept the call to wear the Armor of God as they live out a call for truth, justice, peace and a life of faith with God.
