Beginning September 2nd, we will be doing a 6-week study called “Migration: Experiencing God’s Care For Immigrants,” by Alexis Busetti and Dorcas Cheng-Tozun.
The Education Team will gather in the Simpson Room after the 11:00 am worship service on August 17.
Our VBS children didn’t want to go home. We closed our “Block Party” VBS this past week with a lawn party that persisted into the darkness.
We’re walking into the new Children’s church school year through a new door. We call it “Decoration Day.”
The Education Team is looking for volunteers for our nursery, children’s church, and youth group programs.
Children and youth (preschool through high school) are invited to join the Education team for a “Back to School” party on the church lawn between services (10:00 am) on August 24th.
Children and youth are invited to participate in a “Chalk Walk” between worship services July 20th. We will use sidewalk chalk to share “thank you” and “you are loved” messages through the village of Sewickley.
As part of our commitment to nurturing young faith, each child entering 3rd grade this fall, received their very own Bible to read, learn from, and grow with on their spiritual journey.
Our “Block Party: Building God’s Community” VBS has an assortment of needs as we approach our August 3rd launch date.
“Block Party: Building God’s Community” is now available to everyone. Share it with friends and family, classmates and teammates, neighbors and new acquaintances. It is FREE to everyone, preschool through middle school. We will be gathering from 5:45 until 8:00 p.m. on August 3 through 6 in the Sewickley UMC Simpson Room.
The Sewickley UMC vacation Bible school team is in gathering mode ahead of our “Block Party: Building God’s Community” VBS, which will be held from August 3 through August 6.
We have seven high school and college graduates to celebrate in this season.
As we continue to care for the Immigration Community, a member of Casa San Jose will be leading a “Know Your Rights” training in the Simpson room on Monday, June 2nd, at 6:30 p.m.
Beginning June 9th at 6:00 pm, there will be a New Members Class offered via Zoom and/or in person. The class will run every Monday through July 14th with new members being received on July 20th at both services.
Spanish Class is back in full swing on Sundays at 6:00 PM in the Simpson Room. All are welcome to come and enjoy; no experience is necessary! Any questions or concerns, please reach out.
There will be a Congregational Meeting held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 18th, to discuss how we can support the growth of the kids in our church, and those not yet here, through the hiring of a Coordinator of Christian Education.
As we accelerate into Vacation Bible School planning season, our most urgent need is finding a snack person, a snack team, or a snack family.
The Children’s Church kids, as is our tradition, will be planting flowers around the Sewickley UMC campus on Sunday, May 18, during the 9:00 am and 11:00 am worship services.
The SUMC Education team, as part of our Mother’s Day worship service at 10:00 am on May 11th, is providing an opportunity to praise God and honor the mothers and others who have provided for us through the years.
