Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to share a quick update on our church finances as we’ve wrapped up the first quarter of 2026.

First, thank you. Your continued generosity and support truly make a difference in sustaining the life and ministry of Sewickley United Methodist Church.

Through March, we received about $77,953 in total income, which is roughly $4,900 below what we had planned for this point in the year. This is largely due to congregational giving coming in a bit behind projections early in the year. That said, we have seen some positive offsets from things like facility use and other contributions, which is encouraging.

On the expense side, we are in a good place. Total expenses are just under budget by about $1,300, and most areas of ministry are tracking right where we would expect them to be. Our staff expenses, which are our largest investment, are currently below budget, and overall spending has been steady and well managed.

One area that came in a little higher than expected is utilities, mostly due to winter energy costs. We will continue to keep an eye on that as the year goes on.

Because income is slightly behind while expenses have remained steady, we are currently showing a year-to-date deficit of about $42,400. This is not unusual for the first quarter, but it is a good reminder of how important consistent giving is throughout the year.

The good news is that our overall financial position remains strong. Our General Fund balance is just over $59,000, and our designated funds continue to support important areas like music, outreach, and future capital needs.

We are also continuing to support missions and special offerings, helping extend our impact beyond our walls in meaningful ways.

As we move into the rest of the year, we will stay focused on being good stewards of what has been entrusted to us, supporting our ministries, and continuing to serve our community well. Thank you again for all the ways you give, support, and show up for this church. It truly matters.

Grace and peace,
Chad Wolfe, Treasurer
