If you have not had the chance to stroll into the library, please come visit. The door is always open when church is open. We invite you to relax and get comfy.
This renovation work in the Library, and all events hosted by the Library Committee, are funded by a gift from a former church member, Franklin Patton. Hence the name: The Patton Library. We are forever grateful to Mr. Patton for his gift donated over 50 years ago.
The Library Committee oversees the budget, and Mr. Patton’s gift resides in various interest-earning accounts with the United Methodist Foundation. Here’s a current update on the project, along with expenditures. The painting, new floor installation, lighting, and technology updates were performed by committee members.
$1,200 electrician (the only contractor we hired, since all other work was done by volunteers)
$1,345 various furniture/accessories (chairs, whiteboard, TV mount)
$1,845 flooring supplies
$185 lighting updates
$335 paint supplies
$125 area rug
$209 WiFi extender
$480 couch
$740 2 barrel chairs
$110 coffee table
$3,100 3-piece conference table (seats 12)
Everything was purchased with tax exemption status. The committee has approved a starter budget of $5,000 to begin book purchases to fill our shelves. Our book categories will include: Faith & Science, Christianity & the Arts, Faith & Mental Health, Testimonies & Miracles, Christian Fantasy & Allegory, Interfaith Dialogue & World Religions, Theology of Work & Vocation, Food & Faith, Adventure & Travel with a Faith Perspective, Dystopian & Apocalyptic Themes in Christian Thought, as well as LGBTQ+ & Faith. Do you have a book, author, or genre suggestion? Please write it down, and place it on the podium desk in the library or in the offering plate.
Happy to serve our church family,
The Library Committee
