Grow in Community and Join our Garden Project at VBS 2026!
Welcome to “Garden Project: Growing together through God’s love,” an interactive Community Vacation Bible School where children and youth will use their imagination, energy, and relationships to grow their faith in Jesus and their understanding of Community.
Our Community VBS is sponsored jointly by Sewickley United Methodist, St. Matthews AME Zion, and St. Paul's Lutheran churches. It is free to everyone from any church, school district, and community.
Our program will run from 5:45 pm until 8:00 pm, July 26-29, at Sewickley UMC. There is no registration deadline, but early registration helps significantly in our planning. We have a pre-K track, a K–5 track, and a middle school track (for students entering sixth through eighth grades).
Students entering ninth grade and beyond are welcome as volunteers. Adults are also welcome as volunteers.
Registration is FREE!
We will encourage growth through Bible stories presented by our pastors. We will introduce kids to scripture about Jesus and the amazing things he did. They will learn to ask questions, work together, trust Jesus, and follow his example of serving others.
We will also encourage growth through music, science, art, recreation, and snacks (because there is no doubt snacks make the world a more sharing, connected place).

Our VBS is offered later in the summer than most programs, but we like to think of our program as a path toward the new school year. Do you know a child who wants to enter the new school year feeling empowered with Jesus by their side? We would love to meet them!
For those registering early, we are offering seedlings (most likely tomato or green peppers) to nurture through the summer. Our hope is that children and youth will participate in caring for their plants, and some of the fruit will be shared with neighbors, senior citizens, or others in the community. The VBS team will also accept produce and find places where it can be shared in our communities.

We’re looking for adult and teen volunteers to invest in the imagining, preparation, and presentation of The Garden Project. Gardeners—people who are nurturing, adventurous, and think with their hearts—are needed to join the VBS volunteer team.
