There is a danger that exists when history is erased. The danger is that history will repeat itself. Over the past year, there has been a threat to erase the history that exploited our African siblings and continues to exploit and hold anyone with a skin color different than white under an oppressive system. In the book of Deuteronomy, a ground work is laid for the importance of not only remembering history as it was experienced, but retelling it time and time again. Hiding the facts does not erase the truth but only deepens the scars and creates new wounds for a people that have already experienced too much hate and too much harm. Racism is alive, and we will not stand for it.
