Outreach
UMCOR is continuing its work to relieve distress in many parts of the world. It is actively providing direct relief—including food, water, shelter, and medical assistance—to Ukrainians who remain in country and to those who have fled to other parts of Europe.
Mission u is an annual event offering opportunities for adults, youth and children to grow spiritually, learn about issues affecting society and experience Christian mission in its many forms.
To date, donations received through SUMC designated for UMCOR’s response to help the people of Ukraine total $2,060.
On their way to children’s church in late April, some Sewickley UMC kids carried armfuls of stuffed animals, contributed by members of our church family, to our Operation Christmas Child room. They were surprised to see all that has been contributed toward our 2022 campaign.

With school out for the summer, consider purchasing peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, juice, canned fruit, and other nutritious, kid-friendly foods for June’s collection.
Sewickley UMC is partnering with DTCare to provide the Ukrainian Refugees in Poland with some basic necessities.
The SUMC children and youth will re-visit tradition by planting flowers around the church campus on May 22, the final morning of our 2021-22 Children’s Church school year. The Fellowship of the Cross and the Education Committee will again host the event.
During the month of May, we are collecting shelf-stable Italian food items for the Sewickley Community Center Food Pantry.
UMCOR is collaborating with a Texas-based humanitarian organization focused on Ukraine and Ohio Health to send 47,895 pounds of medical supplies and equipment worth $935,000 to two hospitals in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Sewickley UMC will collect new and gently used, CLEAN shoes (pairs only) from now through May 29th.
As the Fellowship of the Cross formally launches our 2022 Operation Christmas Child campaign, we remember that our shoeboxes from 2014 and 2016 were distributed in Ukraine, a nation now ravaged by war.
We are collecting Easter Bags for the food pantry.
On March 27th, we will join with United Methodists throughout the country to celebrate the UMCOR Day of Giving. Your generous donation will make a difference in the lives of communities and individuals whose lives have been upset by storms, wars, fires, floods, displacement, and climate change.

Sewickley UMC is collecting Easter Bags for the food pantry. You are asked to take a bag with the grocery list attached, purchase the non-perishable items, and return the filled bag with the list attached. Completed Easter Bags and cash donations are needed by Sunday, April 10.
By following the Lenten Calendar found in the back of the sanctuary, you can help the Nyadire United Methodist Mission refurbish its Chindenga rural health clinic in northeastern Zimbabwe, Africa.
