UMCOR and its partners are responding to disasters both in the United States and around the world. Please join in prayer for the areas affected and consider a gift to UMCOR Disaster Response (which you may do with your regular offering or via EasyTithe, marking “UMCOR” – if you wish to specify “domestic” or “international”, please do so).
This special offering will be divided between Doors to Hope and Red Stockings.
What no one person can do, we’re doing together. Together, we’re raising up gifted Christian leaders. When you support United Methodist Student Day, you make it possible for more students like Ricky to serve the world God loves.
Help keep children warm this winter! SUMC and Church Union are cooperating to collect new winter coats, jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves for needy children (toddlers through teens) in the Pittsburgh area.
The Bradley Center is a residential mental health treatment facility located in Robinson Township; church member Sarah Boward is a mental health therapist at the facility, which treats children ages 6 to 21. We are looking to provide gifts for 20 residents.
As families are not being accepted into the program until at least March 2020, Family Promise would like to ready the Crafton location, which the families use during the day. Rooms need to be thoroughly cleaned, painted, decorated, etc. Areas need to be organized.
Annually, there are over 2,000 students, including a number from WPA, who receive millions of dollars in financial assistance through the UMC Office of Scholarships and Loans! Congregations and individuals provide a portion of the funding through gifts in recognition of United Methodist Student Day, World Communion Sunday, and Native American Ministries Sunday.
The YSF has assisted many youth programs in our Conference, our Nation, and our World. Two-thirds of the offerings received remain in WPA for distribution by the Conference Youth Ministry. Through the UMC's global YSF, UM teens raise money for other teens doing ministry in their churches and communities impacting poverty, illiteracy, absenteeism, and social justice.
To help patrons of the food pantry prepare Thanksgiving dinner, Outreach is asking that you fill a grocery bag with the non-perishable items that are traditionally used at Thanksgiving. Please take a bag with “grocery list” attached (see display table in sanctuary) – some are for small families, some for larger families. Purchase the items listed and return the filled bag to church.
Our church is very active, both in our own community, and in the world through connectional ministries. The letters of thanks we receive are a testament to our good works.
The grocery cart will be in the sanctuary, if we are worshipping in person, for October’s collection on October 25th, but you may bring items at time.
VIM recognizes the important work of putting Christian love into action across the globe. The special offering on October 18th is designated for work within WPAUMC. To give, include your additional gift with your regular offering or via EasyTithe, indicating “VIM”.
Thanks to all who contributed either completed kits or funds. 62 kits were delivered to East Brook Mission Barn. While the contents may seem minimal, these and cleaning kits do positively impact persons and families in crisis.
WPAUMC churches are asked to take a special Camping Sunday offering. To give to Camping Sunday, you may include your additional gift with your regular offering or use EasyTithe, marking “camping”.
You may give to UMCOR by including your additional gift with your regular offering or via EasyTithe, indicating UMCOR. If you do not specify, 75% will be directed to USA efforts and 25% to international relief.
Have you brought in your offering of new or gently used books for Church Union, a WPAUMC agency that works with public schools in the City of Pittsburgh and in Beaver County?
We are preparing 200 packaged “to go dinners” for the Center for Hope in Ambridge on Thursday, October 29.
On this worldwide day of unity, the offering benefits World Communion Scholarships, the Ethnic Scholarship Program, and the Ethnic In-Service Training Program.
Blood donations are always needed—with the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions/precautions, community blood drives remain on hiatus. If you are able to donate, please consider visiting vitalant.org to schedule an appointment at one of their sites.
September 20th is the 4th Sunday collection, but you may bring your donations at any time and place them in the grocery cart in the hallway near the library. Monetary donations are welcome, as well—just mark “Food Pantry” on your donation.
