June was a joyful and busy month for the music ministries of Sewickley UMC. Early in the month, Leap of Faith had the privilege of serving as the worship band for the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference. We are proud of our musicians who helped lead worship for United Methodists from across our conference and who shared the spirit of Sewickley UMC through music.
On June 14, Wesleyan Voices and Leap of Faith musicians came together for a spirit-filled worship service with our siblings from St. Matthew’s AME Zion Church. It was a powerful celebration of faith, fellowship, and unity in Christ, and a reminder of the unique ways music helps bring God’s people together.
The month concluded with our Pride Service on June 28, where Wesleyan Voices welcomed singers from across the community to join them as the Sewickley Pride Singers. Together, they brought joy, energy, and heartfelt music to worship. The invitation was open to anyone in the community to join Wesleyan Voices in song, celebrating the sacred worth of LGBTQIA+ persons and proclaiming God’s love for all.
As we look toward the fall, now is a great time to consider becoming part of one of our music ministries. Wesleyan Voices and the Clocktower Ringers will begin rehearsals again in the coming months, and we are always excited to welcome new members. Whether you are an experienced musician or simply feel called to share your gifts in worship, I would be happy to talk with you about opportunities to get involved.
We also continue to make progress on the Organ ReVoice Project. Conversations with organ builders and consultants are helping us better understand the needs of our instrument and the options available to preserve and strengthen it for generations to come. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as this important work moves forward.
The Charles Wesley Music Foundation would like to thank everyone who attended our June concerts featuring Voces Solis and the Pittsburgh Girls Choir. Your support helps make it possible to welcome talented musicians and ensembles to Sewickley while sharing the gift of music with our congregation and community.
Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the Voces Solis Summer Singers concert on August 8. This annual summer tradition has become one of the hottest tickets in town, and admission is completely free. Bring a friend and join us for an afternoon of exceptional choral music.
Thank you for supporting the music ministries of Sewickley UMC and the work of the Charles Wesley Music Foundation. We look forward to sharing more music, worship, and fellowship with you in the months ahead.
