June is Pride Month and there are many opportunities for you to help SUMC be represented at different events!

Pride Prep

Join the Witness Committee in the Simpson Room on Sunday, May 31st, from 10:00–11:00 am (between the services) to help us prepare for our Pride Month activities. Paint a Kindness Rock or help us fill wildflower seed packets to be given to people at the Pride festivals. Even if you can’t make it to the festivities, you can still show the community that we are a welcoming and inclusive church that celebrates God’s love for all!

Pittsburgh Pride Booth

SUMC will have a booth at Pittsburgh Pride on Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00 am–8:00 pm and we need your help to share God’s love with the LGBTQIA+ community. We will be painting Kindness Rocks, decorating boxes for Sewickley Pride, and handing out wildflower seeds to festival goers.

Pittsburgh Pride Parade

SUMC will be joining other Western PA Reconciling Ministries Congregations to march in the Pride Parade on Sunday, June 7th. Line up is from 10:00–11:00 am along Liberty Avenue near the Greyhound Bus Station. The parade starts at 12:00 pm, and we will be handing out wildflower seed packets with information about our church to people along the route.

Pride Choir

The Western PA Reconciling Ministries Congregations are organizing a Pride Choir! Tim Napieralski and Brian Burns from Calvary UMC are organizing a group to sing on a float (truck pulling a trailer or large wagon) in the 2026 Pittsburgh Pride March on Sunday, June 7. If you are interested in singing with the choir, please contact Tim at sashanapieralski@gmail.com.

Sewickley Pride

Sewickley will be hosting our first Pride Festival on Saturday, June 27th, from 12:00–4:00 pm. SUMC will be hosting a booth with a variety of different activities and information for festival goers. This is the perfect opportunity for us to share God’s love to our community!

Sewickley Pride Bake Sale

Will be held on May 23rd on the front lawn of the church from 10:00 am–1:00 pm. We will be selling cookies and sweet treats. In addition to the bake sale, there will be magnet making and face painting for kids. If you want to volunteer, you can get your face painted for free at 10:00 am! Who wouldn’t want to do that? I do!

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers for our first ever Sewickley Pride Festival. If you are interested, please email Pastor Hannah. The festival will be held on June 27th from 12:00–4:00 pm. Even if you can’t volunteer, please consider donating to help make the festival a success.
