Our Community VBS team has chosen “The Gardening Project; Growing Through God’s Love” as our theme for 2026. We will gather at Sewickley United Methodist Church in the evenings from July 26 through July 29 (Sunday through Wednesday). St. Matthews AME Zion and St. Paul’s Lutheran of Sewickley will again be our partners. Children from pre-Kindergarten through middle school are welcome. Anyone beyond middle school is welcome as a volunteer. Registration is tentatively set to open on Mother’s Day (May 10). Our Community VBS, as always, is free to everyone.

We guarantee new life. Isn’t new life a possibility each time we push a seed into the soil? As a mission project, we are inviting VBS families and all in our church families to grow something (in a garden or a pot on the porch) you can share a portion through the summer. We will provide seedlings. We hope children will be hands-on in tending to the plants. When the plants begin to produce, we encourage everyone to share with neighbors, or senior citizens, or people at work. We will also have options in the community where fresh produce will be welcome.

We will share more information on VBS, and on the gardening project, in the weeks and months ahead. Lauren Roebuck and Anneliese Perry have joined Mr. Bill as co-coordinators of our 2026 VBS, and most of our treasured volunteers have returned. We are blessed to have our Nurture Committee joining us to provide snacks for our young campers. Find any of us if you have questions or want to get involved. There is new life in a garden or a tomato pot on the patio. There is also new life in a growing, giving ministry, and in volunteering.
