We Need Volunteers!

When our Pumpkin Patch opens for customers next Saturday, September 27, we need volunteers to run The Patch every day from opening to dusk. There is no need to lift pumpkins at this beloved community event—we just need friendly faces! Please consider signing up for 2-hour (or longer) shifts, maybe even the same shift each week. Please sign up now so we are ready to go on Saturday, September 27. The schedule shows those who are signed up and the openings that need to be filled. On the first day, and even throughout the first week, there are many openings that need to be filled.

Signing up is so easy!

  • Go to the schedule.

  • For the dates/times you want to volunteer, click the Sign Up button on the right of the slot—it will change to “Selected.”

  • Click “Save & Continue” at the bottom of the screen.

  • Enter your name, email, and phone number.

  • Click the “Sign Up Now” button at the bottom.

If you add your email address when signing up for a shift, you will automatically receive a reminder email a couple of days before your shift. Including your phone number is helpful in case the person working before or after you needs to be in contact with you. If you want to change a time you signed up for, you can create an account and edit it yourself, or contact the office, Diane Bartley, or Jess Duvall. Please be mindful that if you send an email to Elizabeth in the office, she only checks her email when she works during the day, Wednesday through Friday.

Pumpkin Unloading

Pumpkin unloading is scheduled for next Saturday, September 27 at 9:00 am, and there is a job for everyone, from young to mature. The younger kids can help with the smaller pumpkins, and adults who might not be able to participate in the pumpkin brigade can help in other ways. A continental breakfast will be available in the Simpson Room beginning at 8:30 am.

Pallet Help

Before the pumpkins arrive, we need to arrange pallets on the lawn. If you can help, please let Sandra Lane know at (412) 841-7169 (call or text). Wooden pallets weigh between 30–45 lbs. and need to be carried and arranged on the lawn. With enough people, the work should take about an hour—Wednesday, September 24 at 4:00 pm sharp on the lawn at the corner of Broad and Thorn Streets. Bring work gloves to protect yourself from splinters.
