As we accelerate into Vacation Bible School planning season, our most urgent need is finding a snack person, a snack team, or a snack family. We need an individual or a group to plan, shop, prepare, and serve simple snacks to the children each night at VBS. We have a budget. We need your imagination, availability, and love for Jesus and children. Our “Block Party” VBS will be held August 3–6. We will gather from 6:00–8:00 pm each evening. We are launching on a Sunday evening this year, hoping to create a less hurried opening night. Registration details will be released soon. Our Community VBS is a cooperative effort involving St. Matthews AME Zion and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches. Sewickley UMC hosts the event, and all children and youth Pre–K through 8th grade are invited. High school students are welcomed as volunteers. Our “Block Party: Building God’s Community” theme is rooted in the building blocks of God’s Kingdom: Love, faith, kindness, cooperation, courage, imagination, patience, and forgiveness, for example. We may also build some friendships using wooden blocks, alphabet blocks, and Lego blocks. Volunteers are always welcome in any capacity, for a day or across all four days. For more information, contact Grace Rogansky, Felicity Johnston, or Bill Utterback.
