Dear SUMC Family,

Thank you for sending me off as the former church secretary with your love and appreciation on September 3rd. I am so grateful for the cards, gifts, and special messages you wrote in the memory book. I look forward to my continued relationship with you as your sister in Christ serving through SUMC.

With love and blessings,
Pam Honeychurch

The United Women in Faith (UWF, formerly UMW) thank all of you who made our September Rummage Sale for Missions a huge success. We raised $2,306.00 through sales and monetary donations. Thank you to all who donated items, donated money, bought items, sold items, carried items up and down stairs, unpacked bags, boxes, and totes, set up tables and filled them with treasures, set up and took down tents, took down, moved, and put away tables, put up signs, took down signs, packed up the leftovers for further distribution, recycled cardboard boxes, and distributed leftover items. Every bit of help and support is appreciated. Thank you for helping us help others, especially women and children, in need here at home and around the world.

I would like to thank everyone who, in recent weeks, has helped us stretch the borders of worship and sharing and connecting in faith. It has been an encouraging season at Sewickley UMC.

I would like to thank Amanda P. and her son, Ben, for sharing their baptism in the lake at Raccoon Creek State Park with us on Labor Day weekend. It takes courage to ask for something out of the ordinary, but your courage brought new light.

I would like to thank Eric M. for his personal witness during worship in mid-September. We don’t do a lot of witnessing in worship, but it feels like a door has been unlocked.

I would like to thank the new members for joining our church family. There was an encouraging breeze swirling as you stepped forward.

I would like to thank Pastor Hannah for accommodating the baptism, inviting Eric, and rallying the new members. When the person at the front of the room welcomes innovation and imagination, we are all encouraged and inspired to move and share and connect in new ways.

I have been especially inspired, Hannah, by your emphasis on prayer—in worship and beyond worship—in recent weeks. I look forward to the next prayer walk.

Sincerely,
Bill Utterback

We’ve received a thank you letter from Blessings in a Backpack for joining up with St Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Matthews AME Zion, and Sewickley Presbyterian Church. Together, as Team Blessings, we have made a contribution of $1,400 to help feed kids on the weekends. The thank you letter is posted on the board by the office.
