SUMC is hosting a memorial display representing the 65 lives lost to gun violence in Allegheny County from October 2021 through June 2022. The display is the inspired work of Heeding God’s Call, an organization working to stop gun violence. We encourage you to walk among the shirts and pray for those impacted by gun violence — families, friends, communities — and for officials who have the power to enact change. We have letters to government officials encouraging them to support gun reform laws — please sign if you feel so moved. We will mail the letters. You can read more about Heeding God’s Call at www.heedinggodscall.org. SUMC is 1 of 8 churches across the county hosting the display this summer and fall.

A memorial service and prayer vigil will take place on the church lawn on Tuesday, August 23rd, at 5:30 pm to honor the memory of those we have lost to gun violence and pray for a more peaceful future.
