This might feel too technical for church, but it is helpful to recognize if we are more abstract thinkers or concrete thinkers to understand how exactly we are to set our minds on the things of the Spirit. Concrete thinkers might appreciate a little more the heavy handedness of the many laws that were given to help the Israelites live into their identity as the Children of God. But since the gift of the Spirit has been given, it seems abstract thinkers might have the upper hand. There is obviously room for both, and it is important to know where to place our minds at when following the Lord.
