The mission of 412 Food Rescue is to prevent perfectly good food from entering the waste stream. One of the ways that 412 Food Rescue does that by utilizing volunteers, who pick up food donations from food retailers and deliver the food to non-profit partners. Additionally, 412 Food Rescue takes part in gleans at local farms.

The UMW is holding a rummage sale in the church basement on Friday, September 7, 5 - 8 pm, and Saturday, September 8, 8 am - 1 pm. All proceeds go to missions—local, national and international.
Look for the grocery cart on August 26th, and help local families with food insecurities meet their needs. School will be starting soon—let's make sure local children have proper nutrition, which will help with learning. August's suggested non-perishable items are: cereal, oatmeal, cereal bars, juice, and healthy snack options.
The Fellowship of the Cross is hosting a free car wash from 10 am until 2 pm this Saturday, August 4, in the SUMC parking lot. Financial donations will be accepted, and everything contributed will be applied to our 2018 Operation Christmas Child project.
This is an UMCOR certified training for Disaster Response ministries of Volunteers in Mission. Non-United Methodist participants are welcome, but will not be badged or deployed through the UMCOR-UMVIM ministry network. Verification forms or clearances are required from UMs on the day of the training—badges will not be issued for participants until they are received. Early Response Team trainings will be offered on August 11th from 9am - 5pm at the Nanty Glo UMC, 998 Lloyd Street, Nanty Glo, PA 15943. Doors open at 8:30am.
The needs are great in Sharpsburg, Millvale, Bridgeville and Bethel Park. So many cleaning buckets have been sent out to these areas from the WPA United Methodist Church's Eastbrook Mission Barn that its supply is depleted. Sewickley UMC will accept financial donations to help replenish the supply.
FOTC launched its 2018 shoe box campaign in May and has selected “wow” gifts—toys, stuffed animals, balls, jewelry—as our target contribution for July. In August, we will target school supplies.
The United Methodist Church has long-standing statements and policies on the subject. The UMC Book of Discipline and Book of Resolutions contain sections on immigration and refugees.
Look for the cart on June 24th. Children are out of school for the summer – consider purchasing peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, juice, and other nutritious, kid-friendly foods for June’s collection.
The $20,000 fundraising goal was met! As pledged, the team chairing the HOF spent a day at the McKeesport Healthy Village Learning Institute working on various projects.

The Outreach Committee thanks Pam Honeychurch and Jenine Furry for becoming certified Early Response Team (ERT) Leaders. They both are now trained to be early responders to disasters.
While UMCOR will continue to respond to relief needs around the world and will continue its ongoing missions, UMCOR’s approach has changed with regards to sourcing supplies needed in other countries.

Help replenish hygiene kits at Eastbrook Mission Barn, our Annual Conference UMCOR satellite, by donating toward the purchase of items for the hygiene kits.
It is not too late to bring your new and gently used CLEAN shoes (pairs only) to help EUMA (Erie United Methodist Alliance) with its Annual Shoe Drive. Sewickley UMC will collect from now until June 3rd.
