Traditionally, SUMC has selected a United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) relief kit to assemble and deliver to AC at Grove City College each June. This year, we will assemble hygiene kits.

EUMA (Erie United Methodist Alliance) and All God’s Children Ministries/Ramps of Hope is holding its Annual Shoe Drive to raise funds for its missions. Sewickley UMC will collect new and gently used CLEAN shoes (pairs only) from now until June 3rd.

Thank you for taking part in the 2018 Lenten Fines Challenge. This year’s fines are benefiting The Nyadire Connection vision program, which provides vision screenings and needed eyeglasses to several villages. Even if you didn’t follow the Lenten Fines Calendar, your donations to Nyadire are welcome. Please mark your fines & donations “Lenten Fines.” All fines and donations are due this Sunday.

Souper Bowl

Souper Bowl

On a day when many of us will be sharing in the blessings of a Super Bowl gathering, the SUMC youth are asking for your help in sharing some blessings globally. Our teens will have a super, or “Souper,” Bowl in the sanctuary during both services Sunday to collect coins for Heifer International. Paper currency is also welcome. Heifer International is an agency that provides sustainable food and water options to families around the world.

It’s cold out there! Please consider donating soups, stews, and other cold weather food to the Sewickley Community Food Bank. Pick up an item or two while you shop and help replenish the local food pantry. The cart will be out on February 25th, but your donations are welcome anytime.

Everyone, middle-school aged and older, is invited to join the “wrapping party” on Sunday, December 10, during the Sunday School hour (10 am), as we wrap the gifts for the Bethany House in the Simpson Room. Please consider bringing your own scissors.

Bring in your donations of new socks, mittens, gloves, and hats to help decorate the tree in the back of the sanctuary no later than December 10. All items will go to the Bethany House kids to help keep them warm this winter.

Thank you to everyone who is sponsoring a child in the Bethany House preschool and after-school program. There are still 7 kids available—please see Pam Honeychurch to claim one. Gifts need to be returned by Sunday, December 10 at 10 am, when we will wrap the gifts. Thank you for helping to make Christmas extra special for these children.

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Relief Updates

More than $7 million in grants for hurricane and other disaster-relief work, and $1.86 million for global health responses. UMCOR already had received some $15 million from donors in recent months to respond to U.S. disasters – 100% of those donations will be used in those disasters’ recovery efforts.
