"Kirchentag"

Kirchentag was last celebrated on Sunday, September 14, 2003, following the morning Worship Service. Kirchentag, which is German for "Church Day," was an excellent opportunity to learn of the various missions and programs within our church community. Our church offers service and learning opportunities for adults, youth and children of all ages. The Methodist motto of "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors" was very much in evidence at Kirchentag.

The celebration began with a light lunch of finger sandwiches, salads, chips, and cookies in the Simpson Room. After a welcome from Atleah Grubb, Lay Leader, and Rev. Barry Lewis, pastor, the luncheon guests were invited to visit the various displays around the perimeter of the Simpson Room.

It is also worth noting that the information gathered for the Kirchentag Program served as an outline for the new "Programs" page of this website. Special thanks go to Atleah Grubb and Nancy Kramer for organizing the information about all the various programs and missions within our church.

Anyone interested in the activities and mission of Sewickley United Methodist Church is invited to contact the Church Office.
