Congregate Feeding Program
Begun in 1984, the Congregate Feeding Program serves hot dinners to between 60-70 homeless people, three days a week, totaling in approximately 10,000 meals per year.
The host church is the Allegheny United Methodist Church on West Ohio Street, on the North Side. Although over 25 churches in the Greater Pittsburgh area participate, the SUMC is one of a small group of churches that participate every month, currently on the second Thursday of each month.
The SUMC has been participating in this program for over 13 years, and has sponsored over 10,000 meals in that time period.
