Charles Wilson - Minister of Music
Mr. Wilson was born in Wheeling, West Virginia. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1974, he attended West Liberty State College as a piano major. Before completion of his undergraduate degree, Mr. Wilson moved to New York City to pursue a career in classical dance. While a student at the Joffrey Ballet, he worked as a professional dancer in both classical dance and musical theatre. While dancing and teaching on both the east and west coasts, he continued his involvement with classical music by performing chamber music, and accompanying classical singers.

In 1984, Mr. Wilson returned to the area to complete his undergraduate degree at Carlow University in Liturgical Music, studying organ with John L. Lively. After a seventeen-year tenure as Organist and Music Director at St. Winifred Church in Mt. Lebanon, Mr. Wilson returned to school. In 2008, he completed a Masters of Music Degree in Sacred Music at Duquesne University, studying with Dr. Ann Labounsky.

After earning his masters degree, he worked at several churches, including Saint Paul of the Cross Monastery and Emanuel United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh's West End neighborhood, and taught in the music department at CCAC Allegheny Campus.

Today, Mr. Wilson is happy to be the Director of Music Ministries here at Sewickley United Methodist Church. He continues to develop his private music studio, teaching piano, organ, and theory, and enjoys time for composition and collecting antiques. In the future, Mr. Wilson plans to continue his education by pursuing a Doctoral of Music Arts degree, while building a strong music ministry program here at the church.
