Sewickley's Light-Up Night
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." Matthew 2:1-2

Light-Up Night in the village of Sewickley finds Broad Street blocked off, all of the shops decked out, lights on the trees, and special activities happening in every building. SUMC is no different. The doors to the sanctuary are thrown wide in opposition to the cold, welcoming everyone in to share the warmth of Christ.

Families take turns filling the roles in our live nativity while local Girl Scout troops sing Christmas carols from the choir loft, accompanied by several of our talented musicians. Cookies are handed out as people enter through the narthex. The Fellowship of the Cross, one of our youth groups, sold hot chocolate on the front lawn, raising money for Operation Christmas Child. Also on the front lawn can be found our phone booth with a direct line to the North Pole.
