October, 2006

10:21:23 pm, by Jack Moffett Email

Our music programs are under full swing, and rehearsals have been well-attended. We are still looking to fatten the ranks of The Fifth Sunday, our contemporary choir, which meets on Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:15am. Just show up for rehearsal at any time, and you will be most welcomed.

I am still asking for feedback on a 5th grade and up Handchime Choir. I would like to know how many of our young people would be interested, and what night or afternoon of the week would be best to have rehearsals. Please let me know by email or talk to me anytime you see me at church.

In October, the musical styles will be varied almost every week. October 1st will have Chancel Choir leading the World Communion Sunday worship.

October 8th will be the Handbell Choir, directed by Pam Mayo, and guest organist Jim Falcioni, who will be bringing some singers from the Mendelssohn Choir to grace our worship.

October 15th will be led by Chancel Choir. October 22nd will see the first participation of Youth Choir, led by Sandra Lane, for this season—we have 12 members this year so far, which is excellent!

October 29th will be joyously led by The Fifth Sunday, with Chris & Hurst Bartley on guitars, Jack Moffett on percussion, and our wonderful group of singers.

On a personal note, I want to thank all who sent cards, food, and prayers when my brother’s wife died last month. Your caring and encouraging thoughtfulness helped me to focus on the Resurrection and Joni’s joy in heaven. Surely she went straight there after so much suffering without complaint.

Keep up the great singing out there!
Peace,
Sharron
